“Engage, Enlighten, Encourage, and especially… just be yourself!. Social media is a community effort, everyone is an asset.” - said Susan Cooper, Social media enthusiast, and strategist.
For several decades, social media has been a popular internet tool. Instagram, WhatsApp, Discord, and other applications have taken over people's life.

As we read headlines on social media all across the world, we can clearly see its drawbacks, such as how many have become addicted to it, affecting their mental health, and so on. But have you ever considered the benefits that come with knowing how to use social media properly?
If you know how to utilise social media effectively, it may be a valuable tool in all of your daily tasks. Every parent would advise their children not to talk to strangers online or offline, or spend less time on social media excessively. However, with these social media platforms, you may interact with individuals all over the world, develop bonds with strangers so they can assist you with your academics and financial concerns, and sometimes specialists can assist you in one of your fields of interest.
If you don't trust me, consider the following examples:
(Personal Experience)
I am quite active on social media since I am a media student, and COVID-19 has had an impact on socialization around the world, and people, being social creatures, require friends.
There is an app that is specifically designed for gamers all around the world, where you may connect with others regardless of discrimination.
If you ask me how this application has helped me or why I support it, the answer is simple: I trust myself to use social media platforms sensibly. My parents also trust me because they are well aware of what I do on these platforms.
I play video games, dance, and am an extrovert, so I enjoy connecting with people and learning about their lives. There is this one girl I met online, I was first concerned since, of course, you cannot simply trust anyone you meet online because-
- They are complete strangers.
 - You have no way of knowing if they are the persons they depict themselves to be.
 - You'll never know whether they're a serial killer (just kidding, but it's possible) because there are so many predictions and so much more.

This girl is a medical student, and I'm afraid I can't share her name or the application where I met her.
As I previously stated, this girl has assisted me with my assignments and research work, and she has provided me with numerous connections to professionals from all over the world such as psychologists, doctors, professors, business representatives, professional gamers, and so on.
You may be wondering, "What is the point of having so many connections?" Well, in your professional life, you need to build connections with professionals to get into any industry for the job, experience, and expertise.
People have told me that even if all of this is true, how can you persuade your parents? The first thing everyone should know is to communicate to their parents on a daily basis and to inform them of who you talk to online and offline. Let them know what you do on online platforms, and of course, believe your parents; they know what is best for you. If they tell you that the person you're talking to is being unprofessional and attempting to infiltrate your life without your consent, don't contact them again.
Finally, learn to recognize what is wrong or right; we are all human and make mistakes, but by learning from them and behaving correctly, you may correct those mistakes and avoid repeating them.
